Default Question

Do hyperlinks prevent a post from showing up? I've had two posts disappear. Both had hyperlinks. I'm an academic; including references is pretty much an ingrained habit. Is my habit playing havoc with my posts?

Hi, welcome to the forum! No, hyperlinks don't usually cause a problem; I use them all the time in my posts. The message system in this forum seems to be a bit quirky, however. Try posting them again.

including references is pretty much an ingrained habit.

It's great to hear someone say that! My particular interest is in the early history of the US flag, which is a subject that is awash in folklore. If something isn't referenced to a primary source, it's pretty much automatically suspicious.

After I posted this, I had a couple posts without links vanish after I thought I'd posted them. I think I'm missing a step somewhere.

I don't think they were particularly objectionable. I've got strong opinions (representative's and both senators' constituent lines programmed into cell phone) but didn't post anything particularly controversial. Which means a technical issue.

I'm terribly verbose, though. Is there a length limit perhaps?

One more technical question.
I got a pointer from a kind person on settings and there's one that may be causing the problem. If I use plain text box, will HTML work? How about BBCodes?
Thanks
