| May a private company which choses to fly the US Flag, lower it when a senior member (ie. president) passes away? If they do lower it honoring the individual does it violate US Flag Code or Protocals in that they are not affiliated with any government agency. Thanks, Bill

| Bill, Technically, only the President or governor can order flags flown at half mast. However, since the US Flag Code does not carry the force of law you would not get in trouble for flying the US flag at half mast. It would definately be in better taste to lower the corporate flag rather than the stars and stripes.

| The United States Flag Code does not carry the force of law - the various states may, however, enact laws that implement the code. I would recommend that an offshore company follow the laws of the state in which it was incorporated.
