Revolving truck lubrication
Hello,
I have a 55 foot flagpole on the end of the Rocky mountains. The stiff winds here required guywiring it off so it is stable in any breeze. I have a revolving truck atop the pole and now occassionally it "sticks" in a single location. In order to lower the flags at the end of the day when the truck is in this location I have to attach a weight to the lower end of the rope and toss it around the guy wires which are attached at the 26 foot height. This is "doable" but is unneccesary, if the truck were lubricated properly, especially where it tends to stick.
The pole was set in place with a crane and the idea, and cost, of taking it down to lubricate one spot is untenable.
Somebody out there has to have devised a jig of some sort for raising a can of lubricant on the rope so it will near the truck. Then they must have devised a system for depressing the spray nozzle to activate the lubricant spray at that height.
If you are the inventive sort who has successfully dealt with this problem, with the flagpole in place, I would really appreciate hearing from you!
Merry Christmas,
Gene So

Re: Revolving truck lubrication
The only way to lubricate the truck is by getting to the top of the pole with a bucket truck. You may want to consider replacing the truck with a heavy duty truck with dual sealed bearings. Depending on the type of pole, there are a lot of different flagpole parts.
