Salute US Flag to salute?
Prior to college and some high school football games there it a military color guard on the playing field that presents the US flag. There is also a US flag flown from the stadium's flag pole. When the national anthem is played prior to the game, which flag is faced and saluted? I see some people facing the flag with the color guard and others facing the pole mounted flag? I think the US flag being carried by the color guard should be faced and saluted? Correct?

Re: Salute US Flag to salute?
Capt: Interesting question. My first thought is to say, salute the one being presented. Having said that, either is probably correct. I am just tickled that people know that they are to salute the flag when the National Anthem is played. If on a military base, and the Anthem is heard, one is to turn and face the music and salute, if a flag is not visible. There could be other reasons that we are not aware of for those who salute the already posted flag, the flag may have special significance, they have always saluted that one when there wasn't a colors team or some other sentimental reason-or not.
