| Hello, I have been listening to a homemade cd of a family reunion of about 35 years ago. My aunts and uncles would always get together and sing. They have all since gone to be with the Lord and along with them much of the old songs of years gone by. One song started with "Beautiful Flag...flag of the free. Would anyone have the lyrics? Thanks so much...Sharon

| Hi, Sharonn ! I realize that this response is over a year overdue, but in my defense, I only joined last month! Normally, with such things as song lyrics, you can usually find what you're looking on Google if you have enough of the words to enter into its search engine. You can enter up to 10 words at a time. With lyrics, you would use a line, sentence, or phrase, EXACTLY as it was written, and put the quote inside quotation marks. Let's say I wanted to know what song the following lyric was part of : "Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light?" I would enter that the entire line, exactly as written, using quotation marks. I would get thousands of pages for "The Star Spangled Banner"! I tried "Googling" the lyrics you had posted: "Beautiful Flag...flag of the free". All I got were links back to THIS page here on USA-Flag-Site! So I tried TWO seperate searches, adding the word "song" to each search : "Beautiful Flag" +song, and "Flag Of The Free" +song. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&safe=off&as_qdr=all&num=10 0&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=song+%22Our+Beautiful+Flag%22&btnG=Search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&safe=off&as_qdr=all&num=10 0&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=song+%22Flag+Of+The+Free%22&btnG=Search I found TWO songs that MAY be what you're looking for (or maybe not!) : "Our Beautiful Flag" http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/songsheets.bsvg200513/pg.1/ "The Flag Of The Free" http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/songsheets.bsvg100231/pg.1/ If you would listen to your family's old homemade CD again, you should be able to here more of the lyrics, and that would give you more to "Google" with. Good Luck and come back soon ! Robin Hickman .

| This is just a "Follow Up", of sorts. The Duke University Library has approximately 1800 broadsides and song sheets from nineteenth-century America in their Digital Library. You can "Browse" through the "American Song Sheets" collection page-by-page (8, 16, 24, 32, or 48 songs per page), OR, you can use the "search" function located in the left-hand column. Here's the link to the collection : http://library.duke.edu/digitalcollections/songsheets/search/results?t=flag Who knows WHAT you might find there! Thank You, DUKE University !!! Robin Hickman
