Stars for our Troops
Stars for our Troops takes old used American flags with embroidered Stars, washes the canton, cuts the Stars, pouches with the following note and gives to Veterans, military rooms at airports and supplies Stars to organizations that support the Troops through care packages, letters, etc.
The note reads:
"I am part of our American flag that has flown over a home in the U.S.A. I can no longer fly. The sun and winds have caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder that you are not forgotten."
Each American Flag can touch the lives of 50 American Soldiers even after it's reached the end of it's flying days!
Gettysburg Flag Works, East Greenbush, NY has helped us collect flags from across the country.
Larger Stars are being framed with the above note replacing carry me with look at me and are being given to our local Veteran hospital and nursing homes.
We would like to expand this project throughout the United States. Please contact me if you are interested in participating or would like to mail your old flag or just the canton.
Thank you that have served, are serving and wished they could have served.
