Quiz: What do Kid Rock, the stock exchange, and the fasion industry have in common?

They are all covered by the same grand banner we call the flag, allowed to live within the boundries it covers, and take part in the free society it represents.

Long live the stars and stripes, and long live the USA!

Default Re: Super bowl half-time kid rock wearing the american flag

i think some of the parts of the flag code are well out of date.
i am english and live in england so whther my opinion counts or not i dont know.... but i am a vexillologist - studies flags flag etiquette and history(beginner!) and i also collect flags i have 38 american flags most with 50 stars but have 48, 13 and 15 stars too and may soon acquire a 45 star flag

anyway - flag wearing.... an issue?? what is wrong about draping a flag over your body to show patriotism and love for a country?? as long as you dont get the flag dirty by wearing over dirty clothes or draggin it along the ground then whats the problem??

it is my assumption that the outlawing of flag wearing came because it was international problem that people would wear a flag to demonstate their support for a particular country during time of peace..
the world was a different place in 1923... i think flagcode should be revised into the 21st century.

wearing flags doesnt bother me even if a flag touches the ground (only if its unintentional) doesnt really bother me. i cant say that some of my flags havent fallen to the carpet in my room by accident!

it botheres me when people deliberatly cause harm to the flag ie burning it spitting on it standing on it-with mucky shoes on etc etc.
that bothers the very most proportion of americans too when they see that happen - and that is most likely flag burning etc is so contraversial issue and the flag code and 1st amendment are contradictory towards one another. i know in england flag burning is not an isue here because not many people here have feelings toward our flag either way. so if one is burnt then not many will take notice of it and be alarmed by it... so flag burning doesnt much happen here either becuse there is little or no reaction to it. also our flag etiquette code for retiring a flag does not involve the burning of it - but cutting it into squares.(union flag)
