More disturbed by the use of our American Flag as a costume...

Thank you for your time and consideration of this issue. If you do have

Both, my husband and I were in the Air Force, and many of our family
members were also in the US Military. We do not take such insults
lightly.

Respectfully,

Default Wearing the flag

Hi Molly,

This response may sound drastic. But on the VFW.org website, they say that states have their own flag codes and may impose penalties. As no penalties apparently accompany the federal Flag Code. So, I would contact the State Attorney General and see if there is any recourse offered there.

Essentially what you are saying here is that, lacking any penalty for misuse, Flag Protocol means nothing.
What good is a Code if it cannot be enforced?
Just let everybody do what they want. Spray paint the Flag with your initials or gang symbols. Sign your name on it. Better yet, have EVERYBODY sign their on it! That's OK, ain't it?

Default flag wearing

I agree, you would think there would be some recourse to take for this. But the ones who wrote the code left the punishment up to the States. So, at least someone can penalize those who do it, just not the feds in this case.

You know I love America, and respect the flag and all, but I think people take it a bit too far. I thought Kid Rock was being patriotic by showing the colors.

It's 2006 people. Move into the new century.

I bet I could sell a bunch of those American flag ponchos on ebay.

I would have to say I love America, and respect the flag and all, but I think people the Kid Rock Flag issue a tad bit too far. I feel Kid Rock was patriotic.

People should stop sweating the small stuff and worry about something a little more important, crime, economy, gas prices..... Leave the Man alone!!!!

It's 2006, Get a Grip!!!!

Ohh Miss Molly, get your head out of your butt, there is no consequence to wearing the flag. There is no consequence to burning the flag. Kid Rock is as patriotic as they come. I like how you're more hurt by this than seeing Ms Jacksons breast on LIVE TV. How did your children fare to that site? Mine threw up. Although when good ole boy Bob jumped on stage, they jumped up and danced.
People that have a problem with Kid wearing the flag do not see what was being portrayed. He WAS SHOWING HIS PATRIOTISM. Just like he does when that flag is waving on the flag pole in his front yard, everyday!! And yes it does, I've seen it.

It is true that it is against the flag code to wear a flag as clothing (or even to make clothing that looks like a flag) but there are no penalties for violating the code, and, of course, all sorts of people wear clothing with flags on it or made to look like its made out of a flag.

Perhaps if the Congress ever passes that law against flag burning they'll expand the definition of desecration to include violations of the flag code. But I think this is one battle the purists aren't going to win.

Unhappy Idiots on the net

Can I just ask what stocks have to do with the flag and its mistreatment? I agree about the flag Kid Rock wore. He was being patriotic and showing his loive for the country. That is probably why nothing was really said or done about it. If he had been destroying it or beating it to the ground, people would have been up in arms, but he wasn't, he was simply making a statement to the world that he loves his country and is proud to be American. Let people live and again, I have to agree with the previous poster..worry about things like the war in Iraq, the wars at home over drugs and gangs, starving children in America, men beating their wives, I could go on all day. There are more important things to stress over than Kid Rock wearing the flag to show respect in his own crazy way just like he does everything else.

Let me try this again since I have recieved at least ten nasty emails due to my post. This site is about the flag and it's treatment. This thread is about the supposed mistreatment of the flag by Kid Rock. It has NOTHING to do with stocks and trading. What it is about is the FLAG! If you want to tadre stocks and what not, find a posting about stocks, not the flag. Have some respect!
