I spoke with a Scout Master yesterday after noticing they wear the US flag with Stars to the rear (retreating as I understand it) and when I politely inquired the scout master informed that th BSOA had special permission to wear the flag in that manner, has anyone heard of this or have more info, because it is seems very wrong to me.

    Hello, Lee B. Yarbrough!

    Welcome to the USA-FLAG-SITE Forums!

I "Googled" the search terms: "Boy Scouts" +Flag +Patch.

The very first two returns were from ", and both were dated March 11th, 2014. The First one was from a BLOG on that website, and the 2nd one was from the website's "Ask The Expert" column. Both of the pages seemed to have garnered a LARGE number of responses!

I hope these entries will help answer your question about the Boy Scouts' Flag Patches appearing to be "backwards". I've included a link to my original Google search. There are a number of entries there, but I haven't gone through any more of them, so I don't know what the final "decision" might be.

I suppose the whole question could be "settled" if the BSA moved the location of the Flag Patch from the RIGHT shoulder over to the LEFT shoulder. But then that would probably raise an even BIGGER hue & cry!

Good Luck in your quest to find the answer!
