My historical society has a huge Civil War flag (approx 10 x 20 feet) and we would like to display it this summer in the historic house where it was flown at the end of the war. Due to its size we were thinking of hanging it vertically, somewhat draped because there is not 10 foot long wall, and rolling the bottom up and setting it on top of something so that it does not drag on the floor. Is this an acceptable way to display a flag? A flag box shows so little of the artifact that it seems that the effect would be lost. I appreciate any input!
