As an eagle scout project i have built a worn us flag box that i empty on a regular basis. These flags are burned on campouts by the boyscouts. Today i collected a tattered US Marine Corps flag. How should this flag be destroyed? I have multiple scoutmasters that are marines (once a marine always a marine), if it is proper they could burn it on a campout.

The Marine Corps Flag Manual (MCO 10520.3B) just says: "Flags determined not to have historical value will be destroyed . . . privately by burning, with no suggestion of irreverence to its military or national significance." This refers to Marine Corps and unit flags as well as the national flag.
