Flag displayed in church at same level as audience and not on podium. Should it be on the audience right or left? It is clear when displayed on podium it's to speakers right. Sense the rules states that off the podium is to the right of audience but says,
this is a custom and not the flag code then what is correct?

Greetings FlagNavyMan! There's a fairly detailed discussion of this question in this thread: http://www.usa-flag-site.org/forum/threads/flag-display-in-church.866/ See especially two of my long posts on 5 May 2009.

The bottom line is that the flag goes on the speaker's right, regardless of whether it's on a podium or not. As explained in those posts, this was not always the case, because the relevant portion of the flag code has been revised several times, most recently in 1976. Some publications still refer to outdated versions of the code.
