I have read all three pages of your posts on flag disposal, but cannot make any of the recommendations fit my unique problem. I have 2 cu. YARDS of non-servicable American flags (hundreds, if not thousands) collected over the years from multiple sources. Some cotton, most nylon. Last month my military honor unit had a retirement ceremony whereby we burned one flag the right way and saved the ashes. Many in our outfit had heard that we could, at a later date, bury the rest of the flags, sprinkle the ashes from the first flag on top of the pile, then cover the pile over with the excavated dirt. Is this legit? If not, what other option do I have? Thanks in advance for your reply.
