I have been given a memorial flag that was flown over several places with certificates for the places. Is this against protocal for my friend to have done this? Thanks:confused:

  2. well i know memorial flags are flown on veteran holidays so i heard that ppl can donate the flags that covered the caskets of their loved ones lost in service and they fly them.

theres no rules saying you cant fly a 5x9.5 ft flag as opposed to any other size flag

Heck no -- that sounds like a great thing to do. I have a colleague who recently retired from the US Navy. He has a flag that has flown aboard each of the ships that he served on during his career, along with certificates signed by each of the ships' commanding officers. It's a great keepsake.
