Our local American Legion and VFW posts are planning a community ceremony to raise the US Flag for the first time on a new flag-pole. We will also be raising for the first time on adjacent (and shorter) poles, our State flag, American Legion Flag, VFW Flag, POW-MIA Flag, US Army Flag, US Navy Flag, US Air Force Flag, US Marine Corps Flag and the US Coast Guard Flag,
We are looking for existing instruction on the best way to conduct such a ceremony.

Make sure that the Flags are assigned to the "proper" flagpoles and raise them in their "Order of Precedence".

Try to keep the "ceremony" as short and simple as you can. "Over-Ceremonializing" such events has the tendency to drive away younger members and "prospective" members. Which is one of the main reasons VFW & American Legion posts are getting smaller and dying out.

    Good Luck!
