PLEASE tell me what I have here... 44 Star, 8-7-7-7-8-7, 4½x9½ FLAG...

    I came across this old flag... 44 Star, 8-7-7-7-8-7 , 4½x9½ American Flag. Because of it's size, it may be casket/burial Flag... I cannot find any photographs for reference with this star pattern. I guess 1891-1896...

    Hello, and welcome to the USA Flag Forum. You do, indeed, have a period 44 star flag. It is made of wool bunting with cotton stars. The stars are affixed by machine zig zag stitching, indicating it is more towards the 1894-96 time frame. And yes, it is the size of internment flags.
