    Why is there a cross on the Maryland finial at union station??????
    I'm 12 years old and I want to know this answer because my uncle will give me twenty dollars if I answer by this Friday!!!!!!!

    Your question is answered on the Maryland Flag Protocol web site:

    Maryland State Flag Protocol

    And the answer is "It is required by state law."

    Only a gold cross bottony may be used as an ornament on the top of a flagstaff that carries the Maryland flag (State Government Article, §13-203).
