We have a small 48 star flag found in a family album from an ancestor. He detailed his movements on this flag from 1916 in Mexico. We've had it framed and have displayed it proudly over the fireplace. My question is, can anything be diplayed on the wall above it? I want to add other family pictures and memorablia but have the "rule" that nothing flies over the flag holding me back. Does this refer only to the flag on a pole? Any input or discussion would be appreciated.

The flag code never envisioned framed flags on a wall in conjunction with other items. However, I would not have a problem with other items such as portraits being above the US flag, especially if the flag is in the center. Indeed, I think it would be preferable to have the flag centered in the display rather than somewhere at the top.

As you can see, I have no problem dealing with framed flags:

  3. Sweet Nick! Nice to see someone else that likes to put flags everywhere! I want to see more of your collection at a glance like that!!! :D

    Happy to oblige:

There is not much space left on the walls of my little library.
