    Default torn flag question

Im not sure if this is the right place to put this but here goes. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo of the US flag but the ends are torn like its been through war. I am infantry so it means alot to me to display that the flag will push on and take victory no matter what (at least thats the meaning i want to show with this tattoo) but I dont want anyone to get the idea that im disrespecting the flag by showing it semi cut up. Would this be appropriate?

edit - oh yea it would also be flying like it is on our uniforms, as if it were charging forward

A "battle worn" flag would get your message across well.
