| . Yes, you're right. I've seen that. I'm just NOT one of those that believe that the "First Navy Jack" is REALLY the FIRST "Navy Jack" !!! On the other hand, I'm a BIG Betsy Ross "FAN" !!! Robin Hickman .

| . Hi, Skip ! QUOTE : "robin, my fav is the '76' flag, but i heard it was never an Official Flag." By the term "76 Flag", did you mean the "Bennington Flag" ??? BENNINGTON FLAG : BenningtonFlag.jpg [ BTW : There ARE 13 stripes on the Bennington Flag. It's just that they are alternating "white-red-white" (white stripes at the top & bottom) instead of the more familiar "red-white-red" that we are used to seeing. ] One of our members, NAVA1974 (AKA : Nick) wrote an article about it over on the CRW Falgs' "Flags Of The World" (FOTW) website : http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/us-ben.html There have also been some discussions about the Bennington Flag here on this site (probably in the "American Flag History Forum"). You can learn a little bit more about it on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bennington_flag You can visit the Bennington Museum : http://www.benningtonmuseum.com/index.aspx Heck! Al Cavalari over at FlagGuys.com has Bennington Flags ON SALE http://www.flagguys.com/benningtonflag.html On the other hand, if by the term "76 Flag" you DON'T mean the Bennington Flag, then perhaps you might share with us what the "76 Flag" is ??? Robin Hickman .

| How should small American Flags (the kind that come on a wooden stick) be disposed of?

If they are 48-star flags they may have some collector value and worthy of preservation. Are the flags faded? Damaged? Can you post a picture? Nick A Columbia MD

Hi there. Speaking of the Bennington flag, I have an Annin cotton Bennington flag that I need to dispose of. Since it's not an official US flag, what's the correct procedure? Is it an insult to treat it the same way as the real US flag, or is it an insult to not treat it the same?
