    Question US/State/Military Flag Display

    Hi,
The city where I live is having a dedication ceremony for a new Armed Forces Tribute Garden next month. Is there a certain order the flags should be raised?

    They are raising:
    US
    State
    City
    POW
    Air Force
    Army
    Coast Guard
    Marine
    Merchant Marine
    Navy

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Thanks for your response.

Do you think there should be a certain order to raise the military flags?
    Here were my thoughts--
    *Alphabetically
    *All at the same time
*In order of where the flagpoles are located. They have a statue for each branch of military and the flags coorsponding with the brach flying beside it.

    Any other ideas??

ahhhh the end of my post was somehow lost!!

i was orgioanly going to say for the mliary branch flags to raise them in the order of the servce which is the oldest first

i have since learnt about the statues next to each pole- and i recken itd be a nice idea to put them up in order of where the flagpoles are located seeing each one has a statue with it

    Hi, Flaglady!

Do you think there should be a certain order to raise the military flags?

Military regs specify an order of precedence for military flags. Take a look at my earlier posts in the "Flags in Parades" thread in this forum -- the precedence is explained there in some detail. You are dealing with a static display rather than a parade, but the precedence rules would still be a good guide.
