We should do our best to always remember that PATRIOTISM and POLITICS are two separate and VERY different ideas.



We should always do our best to NEVER confuse one with the other.



We should always do our best to kindly and gently help "educate" others who have confused POLITICS with PATRIOTISM.



Believe it or not, right now I am doing my best to have "kind and gentle" thoughts about those mis-guided souls who have purposely confused POLITICS with PATRIOTISM and condone disrespecting the National Ensign of the United States of America by flying it "upside-down" for the sole purpose of making a POLITICAL POINT.



Okay. So maybe I'm NOT doing my best to have kind and gentle thoughts. But that's okay, too, because I'm a registered independent voter.

Under the progressives in government today...our nation and our Constitution are being dismantled. This is certainly a time that justifies flying OUR flag upside down...I support the people who are brave enough to show real patriotism!

The United States Constitution was written and adopted to provide for a strong central government that the former Articles of Confederation did not give us. The "progressives" are currently reaching for their goal to "promote the general welfare" for all Americans, not just those who can afford it.

But this is a forum about the flag, and as I have stated before, our flag stands for the freedom we have to disrespect the flag by flying it upside-down, but it also stands for the greater responsibility we have to treat it with respect by flying it properly.

You never disrepct the flag. You are the one who is misguided. When you fly the flag upside down, you are kicking our founding fathers in the face. If you don't like the present goverment, go to another country. See if things are any better there. If you want change, vote for it. WE STILL HAVE THAT FREEDOM!!!!! Leave the flag out of it. Millions died so you could have a flag. When you disrepct it you are spitting on all those graves. Think about it!!!

Iv'e said my piece. If you have no respect for the flag, I give up. I have been on this forum for a year and all I see here now are a bunch of people who have no idea what it means to show respect for something. If you don't like this country, get out and don't let the door hit you in the backside.

Greengo....We will vote and take this country back, then the folks who turned their flags...will return them to the place of respect. The current impostor president does not respect this country...demeaning it while on foreign soil is just one example...he is a disgrace....how can you be proud of the worst and most anti-American president in history!

When you fly the flag upside down you are no better than the a-holes in other country's that stomp on and burn the flag of our country. Leave the flag alone, vote for a new President, or get the hell out. The only thing that is in distress in this country, is the small minded people that can't tell the differance between patriotisim and politics.

I belive the forum should be open to all who have a sincere interest in the Flag of the United States, its history, and proper use, and not to those who want to jump in and hijack the forum for political discussions.

You cannot separate the flag and politics. Politics define a nation (as bad as that is sometimes). Why do you think this country was started! The "politics" of England were over taxing the colonists....see any similarities? Declaration of Independence...Governments are instituted among Men; deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends; it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it; and to institute new Government.

Hmm, I thought that is what happened in November of 2008. We are now living under that duly elected government.

No one is asking you to agree with the policies of the current government. Just recognize that it has derived its powers with the consent of the majority of the governed. Not all the governed, but a majority. But once elected, we all have a duty to support and respect our government, our country, and its flag. You change things at the ballot box, not the flagpole.
