What are your 10 favorite flags?
These are my favorites not necessarily because of how much I like the state or country, but the flag design itself.
10. Ohio-interesting shape and I like the colors.
9. Oklahoma-the Indian dream catcher(is that what it's called) is awesome.
8. Alaska-the Big Dipper on a flag is really neat.
7. Madagascar-the hor/vertical pattern and colors. It doesn't look all that impressive on a stock photo. But when I took mine out of the package, the 1st thought was "Wow!"
6. Sweden-this Scandinavian cross flag looks good in yellow and blue.
5. Confederate battle-the stars in St Andrew's cross just set it off.
4. Wyoming. The white bison in the blue field with red and white borders do it for me. I'm not a big fan of state seals on flags, but WY did it with class.
3. Ukraine-simple design with nice colors.
2. Russia-see Ukraine comments
1. Texas-the hor/vertical pattern with white star. And I tend to favor flags with red, white, and blue colors.
Other favorites worth mentioning.
Dallas and San Antonio-they look very "Texas". But unfortunately Houston's flag doesn't
Mozambique-the AK-47 on a flag is awesome.
Mississippi-Con. battle in the canton with red white and blue stripes are very beautiful and colorful.

Re: What are your 10 favorite flags?
There are so many categories from which we may choose, but let me illustrate four of my favorite historic US flag star patterns (I would show more by the Forum is not set up to include more than 4 pics at a time.)
Global pattern

Ellipse with center star

Great Star Pattern

Centenial 1776-1876

Other patterns I like are the Flower Flag (sort of a "fat" 5-pointed star), the double ring pattern, the circle-in-a-box pattern, and the "candidtates-portrait-in-the-center-of-a-ring-of-stars" pattern.
As far a current national flag designs, I have always been partial to the Canadian Maple Leaf flag - a geography and history lesson in two colors with bold graphics. Excellent Design.
