Hi! I'm a cadette girl scout and I'm working on the American Patriotism patch. I'm collecting information on what our national flag represents- both symbolically and it's meaning to our country? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks for all you do!!!

I had really hoped to have gotten some kind of feedback about the patriotism Americans hold for their country and flag. I know for me, I'm proud to called an American. Many family and friends of mine have fought in the name of freedom... from WWI to Iraq and Afghanistan. Whenever I hear our national anthem play, my heart swells and tear dot my cheeks. I may not be part of the military, but I do support our troops. I correspond with a few stationed overseas and send care packages filled with cards and cookies. Every year, I make valentine's to take to the veterans in the area hospitals. The flag can mean more than just a symbol of freedom... to me it means pride, understandning and a feeling of being home.
