What protocol for regathering many flags from display

For 9-11, we are planting 2977 small flags in a display on a beach. The length of each is about 12-15 inches, and spacing is 3 feet.

Other than having a respectful demeanor, what else should be considered

The flags will be collected into bundles and banded together as they were when new. The bundles will be placed into larger boxes for storage.
we are basically packing them for shipment, as they were when we received them.

It seems that this operation is similar to the removal of flags on gravesites after Memorial Day. I have not found such directions via google.

Republicans had a field day when the left-over flags collected from the delegates Democratic National Convention of 2008 appeared to be piled up and ready for the trash.

Dems trash U.S. flags at DNC convention

Just make sure your bundles and boxes are neat and appear to be headed for a proper storage area and not to the landfill.
