| Hi, James, The flag does not have to be raised at exactly 0800 hours, but many businesses and schools raise their flags at this time because that's when their day begins. The key is that the flag is only supposed to be flown during daylight hours unless the flag is illuminated by a light source. Many nations and territories have rules about not flying unlit flags at night. It's disrespectful to leave your flag out in the dark. Thanks for asking! Sarah
