Will a revolving truck help?
I'm building a taller pole(23') so I can fly a 5X8' flag. But when the wind changes directions the flag gets wrapped around the pole and it looks bad. Will a revolving truck reduce the problem or will it just cause the halyard to wrap around the pole and do more harm than good?

Re: Will a revolving truck help?
Hello Wild Bill,
My 55 foot flag pole was just erected two months ago. We have a lot of wind here in the Rockies at 6,500 feet and I selected a revolving truck and am glad I did, since my pole had to be guy-wired off to protect against sometime gale force winds here.
With regard to a revolving truck, I found out the hard way that you must run your flag's top attachment on your line right up to the wheel in the truck. The line needs to be kept taut this way and thus the truck cannot wind completely around the pole several times a day with shifting winds. When this happens getting the flags down require you to unwrap the line, by going around the guy wires ina tether ball fashion. This gets tedious. With proper tension on the raising side of your line, this frustrating situation will not develop. The rotation of the truck is limited in this fashion, but it works quite well, and raising and lowering the flags is much more trouble free.
Since your a machinist, how might you lubricate a revolving truck at high altitude when lowering the flagpole is not an option?
